The hub of any community is the place where people can come together to exchange news and ideas, participate in local issues, learn, relax and make friends. Our community centres play that role within Newham.
Durning Hall is our largest site and has been serving the Forest Gate community since 1959. A multi-purpose community centre, we are open seven days a week providing a huge variety of self help, support, cultural, educational, recreational and social services to disadvantaged individuals, families and groups. On an average week there are between 90 - 100 activity sessions run by 54 community groups (including 26 faith groups). The site also houses: 11 tenant organisations using our building as a base for their work; a New Business Centre, which offers subsidised offices for start up social enterprises; a hostel for homeless young people; and our Community Involvement Unit.
We have a large meeting hall and 12 varying sized rooms to rent.

The Froud Centre is a purpose built community centre which has been serving Manor Park since 1990. It is open seven days a week and incorporates the Church of St. Michael. On an average week at the Froud Centre, there are between 70-80 activity sessions run by 53 community groups (including 8 faith groups). A major part of the centre's work is working with marginalised and hard to reach young people through detached and organised youth work, with 200 young people using the after school and youth groups. The centre also houses a community office, which offers 11 voluntary organisations shared access to space, computers and phones on a sessional basis.

The Durning Hall Charity Shop has goods which are donated and sold to provide valuable income to support Aston-Mansfield's programmes. Our pricing philosophy is that for items which people need, like the toddler clothes or kitchen utensils, the prices are kept low, so the shop itself is providing a valuable source of good clothes and household goods for people who need them. The things which people like but don't need, such as ornaments, bric-a-brac or pictures, are priced higher.

We own 54 acres of wonderful Essex land next to the ancient Hainault Forest and activities are run by Lambourne End Ltd. The Centre can sleep up to 40 people in en suite family rooms. There is a small working farm selling meat and eggs and providing educational opportunities for schools. Outdoor education and adventure activities are a speciality and programmes can be tailored to specific requirements. The Centre is ideal for short courses, conferences and training events.
