We’re looking for Assistant Cycling Trainers to assist qualified cycling instructors in the improvement of the cycling abilities of the families of children attending Aston-Mansfield’s Little Manor Play Project. The volunteer will assist staff in providing cycling activities for 60 participants within an academic year. They will need some knowledge of cycle mechanics, maintenance and safety. 

The volunteer will gain improved cycle skills and experience of working with groups of families. The role will benefit Aston-Mansfield Little Manor Play project by increasing the staff to family ratio which is necessary with this type of activity. We are looking for someone with the ability to engage with primary school children and their families in a supportive and encouraging manner and someone who is able to cycle with confidence. They will assist in improving cycling skills and train children and their families to cycle in an urban setting on the road and assist in leading outdoor cycle excursions. 

What commitment are we looking for? One afternoon a week from 3.45 -6.15pm. At present the session is run on Monday, but the day will change every 6 weeks. Aston-Mansfield will reimburse travel expenses up to our current maximum. To apply for this role please email:

The role will include sorting and pricing stock, manning the till and acting as a representative for the organisation. There is also scope to window dress and curate outfits for mannequins. Our Charity Shop is based in Forest Gate, Woodgrange Rd. We’re looking for individuals who are able to commit once a week for at least 6 months. If you have previous retail experience, we’d love to hear from you – but don’t worry if not. If you are successful, your supervisor will induct you into the role and explain the basic principles of volunteering in a charity shop. To apply for this role please email:

We require volunteers as After-School Club Assistants, the role involves supporting a team to prepare and run the activities of our highly successful after school club called Little Manor. The Little Manor Play Project is our core out-of-school programme, where children attending our breakfast, after school and holiday sessions participate in a wide range of fun and stimulating activities. These activities provide opportunities for social, physical & creative development and improve well-being. The programme offers parents affordable wrap around care for their children so that parents can enter or return to the work place or engage in studying or training. Our staff also signpost families to appropriate services for additional support. 200 children and their parents/carers participate in the programme each year.

We are looking for volunteers who are available between 2.00-6:00 PM on weekdays. Volunteers are required for a minimum of 2 sessions per week and should be able to commit to at least one full term. A basic knowledge of cooking is required for the role although volunteers will be trained in the kitchen and shown how to prepare the basic meals we provide for the children. Volunteers should enjoy working with children and working in a team. Some experience of doing creative work or games with children would be advantageous.
