About Aston-Mansfield
Aston-Mansfield has been working in the heart of east London for over 130 years. About the Role
Breaking Boundaries is our new, four-year, youth-led programme designed to improve social cohesion, strengthen belonging, and reduce loneliness and isolation across communities in Newham.
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated young people aged 18-25 who possess excellent communication skills and a strong sense of initiative to support the delivery of our Breaking Boundaries Collective programme as Young Facilitators.
In this role you will work closely with a cohort of 35-40 young Changemakers (aged 16-21) to design, develop and deliver meaningful community activities. These projects will bring people together, break down barriers, promote cultural understanding and encourage positive intergenerational and intercultural relationships.
This role provides an exciting opportunity for young people passionate about community, wellbeing, culture and youth leadership. You will gain experience in facilitation, project planning, outreach, group work and event delivery, while playing a central role in improving community relationships in Newham.
- To support the development and delivery of the Breaking Boundaries programme and act as a representative of Aston-Mansfield at appropriate forums and events and build relationships with relevant stakeholders.
- Promote, encourage and sustain youth participation by supporting a cohort of Young Changemakers throughout the programme.
- Co-design and co-deliver learning days, training days, socials and monthly meetings covering: leadership, active citizenship, project management, communication, budgeting and community engagement.
- Support Changemakers with the delivery of 6 – 8 social cohesion events each year reaching at least 500 community members annually.
- Facilitate small group discussions, workshops and reflective sessions with young people.
- Collect feedback from young people and community participants and report on the effectiveness of activities and events.
- Support outreach in the community including surveying young people, recruiting Changemakers and engaging local residents in programme activities.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with local organisations, grassroots groups, faith leaders, community venues, schools and families.
- Work closely with the Youth Team and support the delivery of other youth programmes where required.
