Sessional Cook
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cook/Chef to join our team and provide nutritious meals at our summer holiday play project.
As our sessional cook, you will plan, prepare and cook one nutritious meal per day for up to 55 children over six weeks of the summer holidays within the setting of a play project.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious meals for children and staff, ensuring high standards of food safety and presentation. The ideal applicant will have relevant culinary experience, a passion for food preparation, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
Job Description

This role is for the summer holidays but there is an opportunity for the right candidate to work further holidays going forward too.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals suitable for children, following specified menus and observing dietary requirements.
- Assist in planning weekly menus that are nutritious, balanced, and appealing.
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area before, during, and after service.
- Serve meals efficiently while ensuring proper portioning and presentation.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and notify management when supplies need replenishing.
- Follow all health and safety procedures to prevent accidents or contamination.
- Collaborate with other team members to deliver a smooth dining experience during busy periods.
Qualifications
- Level 2 Catering or equivalent
- Level 2 Food Safety/Hygiene in Catering
Knowledge, Experience & Attitudes
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a restaurant or catering environment
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Knowledge of the School Food Standards.
- Experience in meal preparation for groups or children is desirable
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- A positive attitude, reliability, and enthusiasm for working in a dynamic holiday setting.
