Empowering young people doesn’t stop over the summer. In fact, the summer is the perfect time for young people to develop new skills and get experience as young leaders.

Cooking Session

Recently, one of our Young Facilitators, Ibrahim, designed and led an exciting cooking session.

The aim of the session was to increase attendees’ confidence and self-knowledge, working on their strengths and improving their weaknesses through cooking!

Before the session, the young people identified their strengths and weaknesses. Then, they were given some time to get their ingredients, set up their stations and start cooking within a specific timeframe.

Our Young Facilitators, Dylan K, Dylan S, and Ibrahim, walked around, helping when needed and assessing the young people’s organisational skills, time-keeping, and creativity.

At the end of the session, Ibrahim once again checked in with the young people to see what they had learned about themselves through the experience and give them feedback.

Tote Bag Creation

We also welcomed a cohort of young people from ThinkForward. The young people have joined us for 3 weeks of work experience as part of the UK Youth Summer Jobs Programme.

Amongst their many exciting projects was a fun Tote Bag making activity led by one of the ThinkForward young people, Maryam. The session was delivered as part of a children’s free play session.

The session aimed to develop children’s creativity, confidence, independence and practical skills and gave them the opportunity to express themselves through crafts and make their own creative choices, giving them a sense of achievement and pride.
